Icon Water and Evoenergy share a passion for the environment.
In November 2020, Icon Water challenged Evoenergy to a drink container recycling competition using the ACT CDS. The utility companies rallied their employees to get involved via a number of channels including creative digital and physical posters, internal webpage updates, noticeboard displays, and emails that shared information about drink container recycling and the ongoing competition.
The competition was a huge success and staff from both companies said they were highly motivated by the fundraising element of the challenge. Evoenergy and Icon Water directed their ACT CDS refunds into charities that matched their corporate social responsibility goals.
The results were announced in early December celebrating a combined 6,453 containers diverted from landfill and returned through the ACT CDS, with the profits from the 10c refunds donated to Icon Water and Evoenergy’s nominated charities.
The ACT CDS is a partnership between the ACT Government, scheme coordinator Exchange for Change and network operator Return-It.
